Founded by European private equity experts, Jacana aims to expand the provision of growth capital funding and resources to small and medium-sized growth businesses throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Jacana invests in and supports new and emerging SME fund managers and builds their capacity to the point where they can achieve critical mass in their operations and funds under management. The objective is to select the highest potential growth capital managers for inclusion in the partnership network and then to work closely with them to create an attractive investment opportunity for international investors. Jacana invested in InReturn early 2010. |

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, by initiative of Minister Koenders of Development, has in 2007 initiated the Schokland Fund to help realize the millennium development goals in 2015. This Fund of E 50m stimulates private, innovative partnerships that contribute to the millenium development goals and contribute substantially themselves in realizing the goals. The Ministry has awarded InReturn with a grant of E 487.000 for the InReturn East Africa Fund, because of the innovative approach in helping small and medium enterprises grow and realize direct jobs. The award works as a catalyst towards private investors and enables the fund to help the investees make their business sustainable, both from a financial and environmental and social point of view. |
